The Infantry is the last of the warrior class. From the Spartans,Vikings and Mongol Armies. They are truly the last warriors we will ever know. Thousands of years from now they will be read about and they will depict acts of courage that are the stuff of legend. Some the most amazing feats of the human spirit against unimaginable odds in many cases in the face of certain defeat but always prevailing.

Let us be clear about three facts:
First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman.
Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt.
His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms.Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm.

I love the infantry because they are the underdogs. They are the mud-rain-frost-and-wind boys.
They have no comforts, and they even learn to live without the necessities. And in the end they are the guys that wars can’t be won without.
